Tamu Samaj Sydney Inc. was established in 1996 in order to promote Gurung culture, customs and traditions through various social and cultural activities by integrating the Gurung ethnic group who migrated to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia for study, work, and other reasons from Nepal.

It is registered as not for profit entity in New South Wales, Australia under Associations Incorporation Act 1984.

Our main aim is to maintain and develop our Tamu culture, language and tradition and to organise events that would not only help to bring the Tamu community together but also to welcome and entertain all the Nepalese living in Sydney.

Our Objectives:

• To motivate and encourage all Gurung community members to participate in various social and cultural programmes.
• To organise various programmer during festivals which help to develop/promote Gurung dialect/language, culture, traditions and systems.
• To support organisation members in the time of need and hardship.
• To establish networks and pursue mutual co-operations among other Gurung Organisations around the globe.
